On Friday, family members toured the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, which houses a display of transit workers and the signs they held to protest unfair working conditions. Their protests drew Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the city, where he was assassinated in 1968. Family members also walked through the exhibit at the Lorraine Motel – the site of King’s assassination – which is part of the museum.
